The Interview: The Cooling Rack owners, Amber Richter and Danielle Brandt
How would you describe your business to someone you just met?:
Danielle and I (sisters) own The Cooling Rack bakery. We have been decorating sugar cookies since 2017 and opened our brick and mortar in 2022. We offer drop cookies, gourmet cookies, brownies, single cupcakes and more. Our specialty lies in making custom cakes and sugar cookies.
Why do you love what you do?:
I love baking because growing up we were always in the kitchen with our grandparents. It brings back memories of conversions, laughter, and who was there in that time.
What makes your business unique or different?:
I think our business is unique because we are two sisters who started out on our grandmother's sugar cookie recipe, and we are the only brink and mortar we know of in this area that offers sugar cookies.
What is your business known for?:
Our business is known for our sugar cookies
What is your favorite product or service you offer?:
My favorite service is decorating sugar cookies. I love the challenge and the look of our customers faces when they receive their order.
What is something most people DON'T know about your business that you would like them to know?:
We host parties/class for our sugar cookies. I love showing our clients how to decorate sugar cookies. Its fun watching friends try outdo each other or watching an 8-year-old watching your every move to make sure they do the same thing you do.
What is your greatest strength?:
I think my greatest strengths is pushing my limits. I am always trying to be better than I was the day before and go over and beyond.
What would you tell someone who wants to be where you are?:
I would tell them that there are a lot of good days but there are some that are bad. But we are learning that bad and hard days is a good thing in some way. Whether its learning from your mistakes or the universe telling you, you are growing.
What quote inspires you?:
Be the kind of person who literally can achieve anything. The kind of person who has learned that doing hard things and consistently pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone is key to the ultimate happiness.
